Welcome to the Exum Guide Service and School of Mountaineering in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. During the summer season Exum offers rock climbing instruction and guided mountain climbing. As the oldest guide service in North America, Exum has guided in the Tetons for over 90 years. Throughout those years, a countless number of individuals from age 8 – 80 have climbed with us. Our programs range from a fun day on the rocks for the whole family, to serious alpine adventures.
Exum has more AMGA/IMFGA certified guides than any other guide service in the U.S. and with our longtime local knowledge of the Tetons we look forward to providing you with your own personal and custom climbing experience.

Exum Mountain Guides
Exum’s second annual all-female climb of the Grand Teton in August 2024 was a chance for Dawn Rucker to resolve unfinished business with the mountain from the previous summer’s climb. Read about her inspiring ascent.
On July 25, 1924, Paul Petzoldt and his buddy Ralph Herron successfully climbed the Grand Teton, only the fourth known party to do so.
