Exum Partners With SIET to Offer Devil’s Tower Camp
Devils Tower Advanced Rock Climbing Camp: August 24-27
Course Description: This course is designed for recreational climbers with a solid back ground in the fundamentals of climbing. The course is ideal for folks that wish to teach climbing to novices or are working on becoming guides or instructors in outdoor education. This skills intensive course will focus on the most up to date standards and practices for top rope anchors, self rescue, fundamental guiding techniques (short roping and short pitching), lead climbing/protection placement, multi-pitch climbing and rappelling. An emphasis on risk management and industry standards will be stressed throughout each component of the curriculum. The course will be run by Josh Beckner (AMGA Certified Rock Guide) and the School for International Expedition Training (SIET) in partnership with Exum Mountain Guides.
Prerequisites: Experience with belaying (lead and TR), protection placement, anchor building and knots.
Logistics: Meet at Devil’s Tower Campground at 8am on August 24th
Gear list: Please bring a harness, belay device, 5 lockers, cordelette, 2 double length runners, 2 small Prusiks, a trad rack (if you have one and would like to use it), camping/cooking gear, food and clothing for multi-pitch rock climbing.
