Early Season on the Grand Teton

Early season conditions on the Grand Teton Photo: Exum Guide Mike Poborsky

We began climbing the Grand Teton last week in snowy conditions. The mountain is beautiful and if you like a bit more challenge than normal, early July is a great time to climb. One climber, one guide teams are reaching the summit every day. Their reward is a spectacular “winter wonderland” view of the Tetons.

Don’t worry though if boots and crampons were not a part of your climbing plans. The weather has been warm and sunny, and the snow is melting fast.

The climber pictured reached the summit with Mike Poborsky. Mike will, like many of our guides, guide small groups of climbers to the summit of the Grand Teton about once a week throughout the summer.
