The Tetons are home to some of the most spectacular and accessible Ski Mountaineering terrain in North America.
This clinic is designed for intermediate backcountry skiers and riders who want to progress their mountain travel to the next level, learn technical skills, and discover the steep couloirs and open faces of Grand Teton National Park.
You will spend 1 day on Snow King Mountain, also known as the “Town Hill” in Jackson. The accessibility and high concentration of expert terrain make this a perfect venue for steep skiing skills, introduction to technical rope work, or just refining your turns.
The skills you practice will then be put to the test for the next day while we venture up in the high peaks of the Tetons. Exum Guides are some of the most accomplished ski mountaineers in the world. This is your chance to get coached by the best. There is a 3-hour meeting Friday night before the first field day to go over logistics.
The list of topics and skills covered includes gear selection, knots, introduction to technical rope work, use of an ice axe, crampons, steep skiing technique, partner communication, terrain assessment, and hazard evaluation. Participants should be comfortable skiing blue terrain and harder, and be able to skin up a minimum of 4,000 feet in a day. Come to this clinic fit and you will have more fun!
Please call the Exum office 307-732-0606 if you have questions, or to sign up.
