Climbing, 4-Year Olds, and Fairy Houses
Last week 4-year old Zoe Schanberg was hiking with her mom at Hidden Falls in Grand Teton National Park. She saw our climbing classes and immediately decided that she had to try climbing. Mom called our office and we explained that 4 is pretty young, and that typically kids should be 5 or 6 before they can truly enjoy a day of climbing. Well obviously we didn’t know Zoe. Mom booked a family climbing day for her and Zoe, and off they went with Exum Senior Guide Christian Santelices.
They had a great day and here is mom’s note to Christian the next day: “Thank you so much for an amazing climb yesterday. Zoe hasn’t stopped talking about it, and can’t wait to come back. Here you guys are, having a deep conversation about fairy houses…that was one of my favorites.”
We know that Christian is an awesome guide, and that he loves climbing with kids, but we had no idea that he is an expert on fairy houses. Zoe was impressed!
Here are a few more photos of their day. If you would like to try climbing with your kids, give us a call. You can also check out Christian’s article on climbing with kids.
…and if you have sons, we hear that Christian knows a bit about knights and dragons too!
