Kai Girard is an IFMGA certified mountain guide based in Jackson, WY. Working year round keeps him busy on both skis and rock, with some glaciers thrown in for good measure. While a regular year might find Kai in Alaska, Antarctica, the Alps, and several western states, it’s always home to the Tetons for the climbing and skiing. 

 

Having begun his outdoor guiding career leading adventure education expeditions, sharing the landscape and the skills to engage with it have long been a foundation for his style. Whether it’s a new skill, or a practiced skill used in a new place, Kai is skiing and climbing for the same reasons as when he started. A wide eyed appreciation for the landscape, and the satisfaction of getting after it in wild places. He loves teaching skills and facilitating experiences.

 

Kai also owns his own backcountry rescue sled company, and is always on the lookout for new destinations to explore. He is supported at home by his wife and daughter, and fur baby Rue.
