With more than 10 years of climbing experience, Ben Hoiness got his first taste of it near his hometown of Billings, Montana, and his passion has only grown as he’s found new ways to explore the mountains through ice and mixed climbing, as well as backcountry skiing. His favorite spots include the Beartooths, Canadian Rockies, the Japanese Alps, and last but not least, the Tetons. He enjoys putting up first ascents in remote places, and his favorite routes are of the alpine nature, combining the beauty of the ascent and the descent into a perfect skiing or climbing route. More than anything he wants to help other people find the same wonderful feeling he gets when he’s moving in the mountains.
Ben has a Wilderness First Responder certification and is currently working toward AMGA certifications in rock, alpine and ski.
Ben has a BS in Cartography from the University of MT.
