Nancy Bockino grew up in the mountains of Idaho, Montana and Washington.  She began climbing, backcountry skiing and working as a field ecologist in the early 1990’s.  Nancy moved from the Cascades to Jackson Hole in 2000 and fell in love with the mountains, whitebark pine trees and the local community.  Nancy keeps busy working as a full time guide and avalanche forecaster for Exum, a forest ecologist caring for whitebark pine in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, and a professional avalanche instructor. Nancy also guides for International Alpine Guides in the Eastern Sierra Range in California, where she loves to spend the spring climbing and skiing in the alpine with her partner Colin and living in their van. Nancy has climbed and skied in the Tetons and Wind Rivers for over 20 years.  She has climbed since she was 13 years old all over the world.  She loves to ski in Canada, the Sierra, the Tetons and the other amazing mountain ranges right in her backyard. Nancy has a Teaching Certificate and a Graduate Degree in Ecology and Botany, her AMGA Alpine, Rock and Ski Apprentice Certifications and a Wilderness First Responder Certification.  Gratefully so, Nancy spends nearly every single day in the mountains.  She has a passion for sharing the experience of the blissful freedom, happiness and empowerment that comes with knowing how to safely and respectfully travel through and play in the mountain.  And, she most definitely loves to care for and visit the trees.  You can learn more about her alpine tree work here:  https://linktr.ee/WhitebarkWarriors
