“Iconic, harrowing, yet utterly climbable – The Grand Teton is the ultimate prize for first-time mountaineers. Claiming it just might be the wildest adventure in the parks.” So begins author Tony Perrottet’s description of his summer climb of The Grand with Exum Guide Rod Newcomb.

The article appears in the June/July 2008 The Great Parks Issue of National Geographic Adventure Magazine, under The Best of the Parks 2008 series.

In his article, Epic for the Everyman, Perrottet provides history about early attempts on the Grand while describing his ascent on a snowy August day.

National Geographic Adventure, The Great Parks Issue is available on newsstands today.
