 Angela Hawse

Angela has been guiding and instructing, year round, for well over two decades. She was the 6th woman, of only 8, in the U.S. to achieve IFMGA / UIAGM Mountain Guide certification. The process involves extensive guide training and exams through the American Mountain Guides Association in rock, alpine and ski mountaineering disciplines and is internationally recognized as the highest standard in guiding.

Her mountain endeavors include extensive climbing and skiing throughout the U.S., Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Andes, Karakoram and Himalaya. Angela has scaled big walls in Yosemite, Zion and Pakistan, ski traversed across Lapland in Scandinavia, reached the South Summit of Mt. Everest (28,875’) and remote technical summits in Patagonia. She’s guided over 20 high altitude expeditions around the world, including four of the Seven Summits; Carstensz Pyramid, Aconcagua, Everest and 5 expeditions to Denali. Angela led an all-women’s ascent of Ama Dablam in the Everest Region that raised 23K for the dZi Foundation to start a school for young girls, led an all-gay ascent of Island Peak, also in the Khumbu Valley and organized and led extensive clean-ups on her Everest and Aconcagua expeditions.

Angela is a passionate teacher, nature lover, technician and people person. Her enthusiasm is infectious and her ability to put her guests at ease contributes to a fun learning experience that has developed many lasting relationships and enabled many to achieve goals beyond their wildest dreams.

Angela is an instructor and examiner for the American Mountain Guides Association, helicopter ski guide for Telluride Helitrax, ice and rock guide for Chicks Climbing, and guides for Aerial Boundaries and Peak Mountain Guides. Angela is a keynote speaker, facilitates team building and has been a climbing rigger for adventure races. She served for 6 years as a Director for the American Mountain Guides Association. In 1997, she was a Denali Pro Pin recipient. In 2011, Angela was the recipient of the AMGA Guide of the Year Award.
